The "Bisbee Deportation" ocurred during a strike on several local copper mines organized by the Industrial Workers of the World. The deportation was organized by Cochise County Sheriff Harry Wheeler who deputized over a thousand men to arrest the workers, march them out of town, load them into train cars and ship them into the New Mexico desert.
